Restyle Day 1 - Glitter

It's the first day of August and the first day of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival Restyle Photo-A-Day Challenge! How exciting! To kick of this super awesome month, style prompt number one is Glitter! I'm going to be honest with you... this was one of the hardest prompts for me to find. I didn't think finding something glittery and sparkly in an op shop would be so tricky, but man was I getting desperate towards the end! For this whole challenge I have only bought op shop items that I would actually buy and wear for myself. So finding something that fit today's prompt and also worked with my own style/wardrobe was crazy hard. I guess it's not called a challenge for nothing!

Luckily this outfit fell together at the last moment (literally just a few days ago!) and I couldn't be happier with the look. This sequined jacket is from the Australian Red Cross store in Bentley, it was exactly the kind of thing I was hunting for. I don't wear a lot of black, but the glittery sparkle of the sequins makes this cropped jacket something special and too hard to resist!

The skirt is special because I made it from the off cuts of a vintage maxi dress. I know it's frowned upon to cut up vintage, but I was never going to wear the dress (you'll see it in a few weeks) in it's original form, so I chopped it into a mini and used the excess fabric to make this skirt. Now I have two great pieces that I will love and wear all the time!

What are you wearing for the first day of Restyle?! Don't forget to follow me on instagram (@inthedressupbox) and share your own glittery outfits using #Restyle2014

    1. oh I'm so glad to hear you love op shopping, I'm obsessed with it! I didn't use a pattern for the skirt, I just kind of made it up as I went along, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out :)
