I wasn’t afraid of the DIY prompt, I was excited for it! I’m pretty handy with a sewing machine, I can alter and mend things and even make clothing from scratch if I’m feeling enthusiastic enough. I thought I’d be clever and try something different for today’s prompt, so I pulled out the paint brushes instead of the sewing machine. Turns out that wasn’t such a great idea…
I had grand plans to paint stripes on to a cute vinyl bag I found to match my outfit. It all started out fine, but when it came time to peel the tape away to reveal my perfect stripes, the paint had bled and the tape destroyed the surface of the vinyl. Awesome. I attempted to salvage it with nail polish remover (??) and then desperately tried to think of another DIY I could quickly whip up, but of course I left it to this last minute and there was NO TIME. So my DIY was a total disaster.
I was going to pretend it wasn’t a disaster and photoshop my bag to look good… but then I thought I’d be honest and just say that this project sucked. That’s OK though, I’m pretty sure most people’s first attempt at a DIY project sucks. Let’s just focus on my cute outfit shall we?
Bag: Australian Red Cross Hamilton Hill $3
Top: Australian Red Cross Duncraig $2
Shorts: Australian Red Cross Fremantle $10
Shoes: Asos
Sunglasses: Prada
P.S The paint I used was $4, so in total this DIY fail cost me $7, which isn’t too devastating.
Note to self: invest in some fake tan!
Hey, you win some you loose some. I felt like I overdid my DIY, but whatever. xx Jenelle
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Hannah, I'm not convinced mine was any good either, haha! Your shorts however, were an awesome find, I love them!
DeleteA shame about the bag - it was a good idea. The outfit looks lovely on you!
