Restyle Day 3 - Collar

Today's style prompt stumped me a little bit, which is odd because finding collared things in an op shop is pretty easy. As for a lot of the prompts I had in my mind the exact type of shirt I wanted to find, and this my friends is a terrible thing to do when op shopping! Op shops are so random and all over the place, which is why I love them, but you can never be guaranteed to find exactly what you are looking for.

I went hunting through every Australian Red Cross op shop in Perth trying to find the perfect lace collared shirt. I was just about to give in and wear something else entirely when I found this shirt hiding in the Red Cross Duncraig store. The collar is perfect, the shirt is not. But that's OK! The beauty of buying things from op shops is that you can experiment and try different styles, and if they don't work, then just donate the items back! It's worth a $4 shirt to try something new right?

It's Sunday today so I thought I'd try to style a classic white shirt a little more casually. The collar on this shirt is gorgeous, but the shape of the shirt is a little boxy and the fabric is shiny so I didn't want to wear it on its own. Layered up with a cosy jumper and paired with my spotty skirt, this is a great comfy outfit to wear while enjoying a few wines on a Sunday arvo.

Shirt: Australian Red Cross Duncraig $4
Jumper: Australian Red Cross Mandurah $6
Shoes: Australian Red Cross Bentley $10
Skirt: Op Shop
Brooch: Op Shop

P.S This rather innocuous looking jumper is none other than Yves Saint Laurent (!). It was quietly waiting for me at the Red Cross Mandurah op shop for $6! I don't find designer duds at op shops all the time, but it does happen more frequently than you'd imagine. So keep your eyes peeled for recognisable labels while you are scanning the racks (but leave the vintage YSL for me please).
