Street Style Stolen

Hello hello! Welcome to my first attempt at stealing a Street Style look! When searching for street style images to recreate I was keeping an eye out for outfits made up of basic. simple pieces that were just put together in an interesting way. Obviously some street style outfits are near-impossible to emulate without having the exact item of clothing, so I was looking for something easy to start off with (I’ll push the boundaries a bit later I promise!).

This image is from Pinterest and it’s perfect! The sexy/athletic vibe is a little out of my comfort zone but I was up for the challenge! Tracking down a light blue over sized shirt was ridiculously easy. Seriously. Walk into any op shop anywhere and you’ll find a blue men’s work shirt. I got this one for $3 from Vinnies. A red skirt is also pretty easy to find, I already have three in my wardrobe to choose from (all op shopped of course) so I went with my leather one to keep in line with the photo.

TA DA!!

I absolutely loath flat caps, on anyone and everyone, even this gorgeous girl. They are ridiculous and I refuse to buy one just for the sake of this post. Luckily I found this red baseball cap at the new Good Sammies in Myaree, it's pretty much as close to a Yankees cap as I could hope to find, so was thrilled.

So there you have it, my first street style look stolen and made up entirely of op shopped goodies and things I already had in my wardrobe. What do you think?

Shirt: Vinnies North Perth $3
Skirt: Op Shop $10
Heels: Salvos in Osborne Park $8
Cap: Good Sammies Myaree $2

Street Style Every Day

Over the last few months I've been re-assessing my blog and thinking of ways to give it a little more direction and structure. I have a few ideas in the pipe line, but this one was actually suggested by my clever boyfriend, who doesn’t care at all about fashion but is so thoughtful and kind that he helped me brain storm blog ideas any way.

If you are at all like me (and you probably are if you are reading my blog!) then the highlight of the various fashion weeks (New York, London, Paris, Milan) is not the actual runway shows but the side walk shows. You know what I’m talking about… Street Style! I am far more excited to see what the glamorous attendees of the shows are wearing then what actually comes down the catwalk. Street style is a massive inspiration to me, but most of the time the clothes/accessories involved are worth more than my car and are totally unattainable. They are also often INSANE. Insane in a fabulous way of course, but never the less, insane for every day wear. So every now and then I’m going to choose a recent street style look and re-create it to suit my budget, my body shape and my real life (i.e playing scrabble at the pub, NOT attending a couture show in Paris).

There will be no real rhyme or reason to these posts because I’m not organised enough to have a regular blog feature, but every so often I’ll share a street style look I’ve managed to recreate. These are a few examples of the street style looks I LOVE and want to steal...

I’ve got a few Street Style looks in the works already so come back tomorrow to see my first effort!

Life Recently

Oh my goodness it's the end of the November! Exactly one month until Christmas and I could not be more excited! I'm currently holidaying in sunny Sydney, so here is something to tire you over until I return with some enviable holiday snaps.

 Lately I've been...

Eating a packed lunch every day, I’m pretty impressed with my new habit!
Drinking G&Ts ('tis the season!)
Cooking cakes and cookies, I’ve got such a sweet tooth at the moment
Watching Gossip Girl reruns and lusting over everything Blaire Waldorf wears
Buying These sunglasses… oops!
Wearing an oversized men’s work shirt which set me back $1 and is my absolute favourite thing at the moment
Reading lots of girly trashy books, perfect for Summer snoozing by the pool
Avoiding the sun! I’m all for the heat, but give me a hat, SPF50 and fab sunnies before I head outside!
Browsing Gumtree for Christmas presents, I’m being super thrifty (*ahem* cheap) this year
Dreaming of my Christmas break, one month exactly until the big day! Woohoo!

Not My Travel Outfit

Hello from New South Wales! The boyfriend and I have jetted off across the country for a week of birthday celebrations in sunny Sydney. I haven’t spent much time in Sydney so I’m excited to explore and relax (with lots of eating, shopping and drinking thrown in the middle). In the grand tradition of this blog I was going to share with you my ‘travel outfit’ (i.e what I wore on the plane) but it’s exactly the same as this outfit from a few weeks ago (plus my cons) so I’ll give you another outfit instead…

This amazing vintage peasant blouse is one of the pieces my gorgeous neighbour Gerry gave me. She dropped off a huge bag of vintage clothing and costume jewellery for me to rummage through last week, I seriously lucked out and scored so many awesome things. Gerry is a true stylista (she worked for Dior and Fendi!) and has the most amazing wardrobe, so I felt pretty spoilt to receive a few bits and pieces from it.

I could easily go ‘full peasant’ with this blouse, and I probably will at some stage, but for now I think basic black leather and some espadrilles stop this top from looking too costume-y. What do you think?

Shop What You Got Wrap Up

I made it! Hurrah! The Shop What You Got challenge is over, and honestly I couldn’t be happier about it. Surviving with a wardrobe of 30 pieces for 30 days is definitely do-able, there were plenty of outfit combos I didn’t get time to try and many outfits I loved and could have easily worn again. Having only a small collection of clothes to choose from each day also made getting dressed for work so much quicker. Limited options is a blessing in disguise I guess.

All that being said the second half of challenge was really tough. I desperately missed my vast collection of clothes and I started getting sick of my mostly black and white capsule wardrobe. Strangely enough the things I missed most were my shoes, I included five pairs in my original 30 pieces, but I wanted more more more!

So in the last month I have blogged about 15 outfits all made up of the same 30 items. The only time I cheated in the whole 30 days was on Halloween, when I wore yellow pumps as part of my Minnie Mouse costume, pretty dam good I’d say! Overall I’ve learnt that if need be, I can survive quite stylishly with a small capsule wardrobe. BUT I’m much happier with lots of different options, so while I live in one place and have enough space, I’ll keep my large wardrobe thanks very much!

Challenge Complete!

Seeing as I’ve been wearing the same clothes for the last four weeks I’ve run out of things to say about them! But today is the last day of my Shop What You Got challenge! Hooray!!

This is a super easy and comfy work outfit that I’ve worn a couple of times to the office. The top is actually a dress (this one!), and I love it layered with a skirt! The high neck and draping are so lovely and perfect for the office.

Sandals and a bright necklace complete the look. I’ve been a bit naughty and have stopped wearing jackets to the office when the weather is really warm, I’m not sure how long I’ll get away with it, but I’m going to keep pushing my luck a bit longer!

Skirt: Op Shop
Top: Yttirum
Sandals: Melissa
Necklace: Lovisa

Come back tomorrow for a little Shop What You Got wrap up!

The Big 2-0-0

OH MY GOODNESS YOU GUYS this is my 200th blog post! How crazy is that?! I can’t believe I’ve managed to wear 200 different outfits and blab on about them 200 times. This is definitely cause for celebration! Where is the champagne when you need it?!

This outfit isn't particularly celebratory, but seeing as I've been trapped in doors with tonsillitis all weekend, this was as good as I could manage. I'll whip out my cocktail dress and heels later in the week I promise!

Thank you so much for following along with my foray into blogging. Even 200 posts in my blog is still very small and I know the majority of my readers are friends and family (hi Mum!), but I really do appreciate every single comment, ‘like’, view and follower. So thanks guys! You’re awesome.

T-Shirt: Op Shop
Skirt: Op Shop

Jacket: H&M
Brooch: Vintage (gift!)

Want to have a bit of a giggle and check out my very first post? I’ve definitely come a long way with my photography and Photoshop skills.

Twice in Two Days

I wore this outfit twice this week. Even whilst in the middle of my Shop What You Got challenge that’s a bit much. So why did I wear this outfit twice in two days....

On Monday morning I was driving to work, minding my own business and sipping a take away coffee when some kid in a big Jeep ran into the back of my car. My sunglasses flew of my face, my packed lunch smooshed into the windscreen and my coffee exploded all over me. Thankfully I survived without any injuries, just a coffee stained white outfit and a busted bumper. It could have been worse.

So this awesome outfit only saw the light of day for about an hour and a half before I had to go home and throw it in the wash. Which is why it got to make a second appearance in as many days, it’s a pretty great outfit, it deserves a second chance. You’ll also be happy (and hopefully impressed!) to know that I made it through the second day without dropping so much as a crumb on my crisp white outfit. Hooray!
