Yesterday it was finally cold enough to warrant wearing a coat. A light weight one, but still... A COAT! I was excited to wear my linen plaid blazer with it's DIY fur collar. I bought this blazer from an op shop a few months ago with the specific intention of adding a fur collar using this tutorial from A Beautiful Mess. As I was in the process of making the collar I was certain that it wasn't going to work. I was covered in fur and string and calico and I couldn't get the shape around the neck right, it looked like a disaster, but it actually turned out pretty great. I was quite impressed with myself.
While wearing my fabulous blazer yesterday I did a little op shopping at the behest of a friend who was desperate for some new things in her wardrobe. I was purely doing it for her, I wasn't going to buy anything for myself (hahaha)... but I did buy myself something. I bought another winter coat. It's a jewel green, 100% wool, calf length vintage master piece and I couldn't leave it at the Good Sammies in Yangebup, I just couldn't.
When I got home I found myself trying to jam it into my wardrobe without my boyfriend seeing and I realised I have a slight coat problem. I counted 33 pieces of clothing that fall in to the jacket/coat/blazer family. 33! That's a stupid number considering I live in Perth, but I just love coats! They are probably my favourite item of clothing and there are SO many amazing vintage ones to be found.
So as a little challenge for myself, I pledge to wear and blog about every single one of my coats between now and the start of Spring. The coats that I don't wear and blog about will be going to the Salvos in September. So I've got 129 days to wear and blog 33 coats... easy! This post can count as number one.
