Bindaring Sale - Outfit Two

I thought I’d kick off Tuesday with a glamorous bang. This vintage silk skirt is SO AMAZING! They just don’t make things like this any more. The colour is divine and worn with a simple lace top and some sleek accessories, it’s the perfect statement outfit for a special event. Or you could totally wear this skirt with a comfy T, converse and a denim jacket for a casual look.

I think people tend to avoid these OTT vintage items because they don’t know how to wear them, but styled in the right way they can be super versatile. So if you spot an amazing vintage piece at the Sale on Saturday, don’t write it off as being ‘not your thing', take it home and try it out, for less than $10 it’s totally worth the gamble!

Are you getting pumped for the Bindaring Sale this Saturday? In case you forgot (or have no idea what I’m talking about) check out all the details here. All the outfits I’m sharing on the Blog this week will be available to buy at the Sale. That being said it can be pretty manic and there's literally thousands of items of clothing, so you might not find these exact pieces but you’ll for sure get a bargain. Last year I came out with a Vivienne Westwood shirt dress, a couple of vintage pieces and some fabulous suede shoes and only spent $30!

Bindaring Sale - Outfit One

I was lucky enough to have a sneak peak at the Bindaring Sale stock last week. I went in on my lunch break for a quick rummage to pull some looks together to share on the blog. Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for you, I returned everything once I’d shot the images, so it will all be for sale on Saturday!

Now let me tell you, I could have put together endless outfits, their sale stock is just so amazing. I was looking exclusively in the 'Op Shop’ section, which means everything is $10 or less (mostly less). I saw almost every high street label represented (Country Road, Witchery, Zara, Sportsgirl, Cue, Forever New, Alannah Hill, Gorman the list goes on and on!) plus loads of vintage and designer pieces. You are guaranteed to find at least one gem, I promise you.

On to the outfit, this first look is a casual one and something I would definitely wear for a weekend lunch or relaxed dinner. The knit wrap/poncho thing is what grabbed me, I saw it from the other end of Robinson Pavilion (which is MASSIVE) and basically sprinted to it. You could wear this over the top of anything and it would be fabulous, but paired with some exceptional vintage Dolce & Gabbana jeans, a classic striped T and some gorgeous Zara boots, this outfit is superb (if I do say so my self!)

Jeans: Dolce & Gabbana
Knit: Eb and Ive
Boots: Zara

Bindaring Red Cross Sale

If you follow me on Instagram then you may have noticed I’ve been rabbiting on about the Bindaring Red Cross Sale a lot lately and with good reason! The sale is coming up and I’ve once again been asked to be a Style Ambassador!

What: Bindaring Red Cross Sale (check out their beautiful new website!!)
When: Saturday May 14, doors open at 9am, but you can start queuing from 7am if you’re keen!
Where: Claremont Show Grounds, Robinson Pavillion

Parking is $2 per car which goes directly to support the fab work the Australian Red Cross does, or you can catch the train, which will be stopping at the show grounds station on the day.

If you’ve ever been to the sale before you know that it can get a bit hectic (in best kind of way!) so it’s always good to go in with a game plan. Work out which area you’ll be bee-lining to first. I’ll be checking out the Op Shop, Emporium, Boutique and will finish with $1 a bag, but everyone has their favourite treasure hunting spot.

Make sure you dress appropriately, slip on shoes and a cross body bag are an absolute must. I also like to wear something easy to pull clothes over the top of, like leggings, because I can never be bothered completely stripping off in the change rooms.

Next week I’ll be sharing a few gorgeous outfits made up completely of items from the Sale, which you’ll be able to purchase on the day! I can’t wait!

Oh and my totally red outfit is in honour of World Red Cross Day which is this Sunday, May 8. Wear something red on the weekend, share it on social media (@Bindaring) and show your support for the Australian Red Cross and all the important work they do in our community.

Jacket: Australian Red Cross, Willagee $8
Dress: Vintage from LA
Shoes: Bass x Rachel Antonoff
Sunglasses: Dolce and Gabbana

Running Around

Will you look at this, an outfit post! Who would have thunk it? I finally managed to get some time to myself where the sun was shining, my hair was behaving and my outfit was ‘on point’ (as the kids say) which means just one thing… outfit snaps!

I wasn’t sure whether the whole bomber jacket trend was for me. While they look amazing on the waifish style bloggers that dominate the world right now, I wasn’t sold it was a look that would work for my shape. That being said when I saw this flowered beauty in the kids section of Vinnies for only a few bucks, I thought I’d give it a whirl, and what do you know? I kind of love it! I think the trick is that this bomber isn’t super puffy so it doesn’t add any unwanted bulk to my frame. It goes without saying that it’s very comfy and is a fun alternative to my denim jacket, which is my usual weekend go-to.

I stumbled across the best church garage sale a few weeks ago and came out with a huge bag of stuff for only $20 (including the most amazing rug for my house!). This stripey dress was one of my finds and I love it. It’s the perfect base for a layered up autumn outfit.

Life Recently

So you’ve probably noticed things have been a little quiet around the blog of late. While I can promise you I’ve still been getting dressed and op shopping, I’m truly struggling to snap outfit pictures. It’s a combination of my new job which starts half an hour earlier and my new puppy, who demands all my free time which has made getting out to take outfit snaps super hard. I’m honestly not sure what the solution is, but it’s definitely something I’m working on because I’m not ready to give up blogging just yet, I still need somewhere to blab about my super op shop finds!

So with that in mind I’ve got a different Life Recently for you this month…

 1. A few new thrifted treasures from a church garage sale
2. My city looking particularly beautiful on a particularly dreary day

3. Baby girl Blue is getting SO BIG, I want her to stay a puppy forever!
4. What I haul around in my bag all day… yes 3 pairs of sunnies are necessary

5. My spotless house after hiring professional cleaners… such an indulgence
6. The pups had a bit too much fun on my Aunt and Uncles bush property

7. Thrifted a pot and a baby succulent for my besties birthday, op shop prezzies are the best!
8. The Bindaring Red Cross sale is almost upon us! It’s my favourite place to treasure hunt!

9. Spent some quality time with my family over the Easter long weekend and loved every moment of it
10. I got my beloved KW shades resized to fit my giant head, so they no longer give me headaches when I wear them for longer then a few minutes (hooray!)

I'll be back next week with some real outfit posts and also some more info on the Bindaring Red Cross Sale, which is only 3 weekends away!! (Check out their website if you want the goss now).

As always, thanks for hanging in there and always coming back to read my (rather intermittent) posts. You're awesome!

Ultra-On-Trend

After fruitlessly attempting for about 6 months to track down the original Ann Demeulemeester version of these lace up shoes on eBay, I gave in and bought the Free People version instead, and I’m SO glad I did! While every fashion-loving lass and their dog might own some variation of these lace up beauties, I couldn’t resist having a pair too. I can see why they are so dam popular; seriously comfortable, stylish and super leg lengthening they are the perfect addition to my (and everyone else’s) shoe-drobe.

To counteract wearing such an on-trend shoe I’ve made sure to pair them with thrifted and vintage items that I can be fairly certain no one else will be wearing. My floral 80s-does-40s dress and vintage tasselled jacket are pretty unique, so I feel quietly confident that while everyone might own a variation of my shoes, no one is going to be waltzing around in this outfit.

How do you feel about wearing ultra-on-trend items that everyone appears to own? As much as I like to steer clear of wearing what everyone else is, sometimes I just can’t resist a trend no matter how prolific it is!

Take me to the Markets

My new house is dangerously close to the Melville Markets. I’ve always lived a short drive away from the holy grail of flea markets (at least for Perth anyway) but now I literally live 500 metres away, so every Sunday morning I find myself making a cup of tea in my Keep Cup and trudging down the road to see what treasures I can find.

Last weekend I went in search of a birthday gift for my bestie, which I found (baby succulents and a vintage brass pot) but of course I picked up a little something for myself at the same time. I thought this was a vintage dress at first, turns out it’s a repro, but that’s fine by me. The carnival print and pastel colours are soooo sweet. It was the perfect Easter dress. I added my little Lea Stein brooch which matched perfectly with the floating balloons in the print.
