NOT my Summer Uniform

The term ‘summer uniform’ rubs me the wrong way. It reminds me of itchy tartan skirts from school and sweaty polyester shirts from all my teenage jobs. All that being said, I can’t deny that during my three week summer break I basically wore the same thing every day... like a uniform, but not.

I have been living in my chambray shirt dress and espadrilles, I have literally worn this exact outfit at least once a day for three weeks. I love wearing new and different outfits all the time, but with the weather in the high 30s (and sometimes cracking the 40s), I just can’t work up the same enthusiasm for my wardrobe that I usually do.

So loose, light and comfy will have to do… just don’t call it my uniform!

Hip Hip Hooray!

Hello 2015!! I took a mini blog hiatus for the first few days of January, to be honest this is the first time I have opened my laptop since last year (hehe). I hope your first week of 2015 has been excellent and you woke up on January first without too much of a head ache (I can’t promise I did!).

I’m really excited to share my new year’s eve outfit. I went to a jungle themed party with a bunch of my friends and I wanted to have an appropriately themed outfit. I assumed (correctly) that everyone else would be decked out in variations of animal print, so I went down a different path and dressed as Jungle Jill! I have an excellent safari hat that I picked up during my Restyle challenge last year, so I started searching for a 70s safari suit to match. Unfortunately safari suits are hard to come by and all the ones I found online were suuuuuuper expensive. Luckily enough I found this khaki green mechanics jumpsuit at the Salvos in Freo a few weeks ago, it only took a few minor alterations and I managed to turn it in to a passable jungle outfit. I added a bling-y necklace and strappy heels too (it was new years eve after all!).

My outfit was a hit and was so much more comfortable than a little bandage dress (still clearly the go-to party outfit of those in their 20s). I really love this jump suit and am keen to style it in a few different ways and see if I can get away with wearing it as a non-costume outfit.

PS I got my make up done for the event at the Body Shop, it looked gorgeous in real life but something about the false lashes I was wearing made it impossible for me to take a normal picture of my face, I look surprised in almost every image I took!

Oh my goodness it’s the last day of the year! 2014 has been an excellent year for me, both in the blog world and the real world so I thought I’d be very self-indulgent and do a little wrap up and share my favourite outfits from throughout the year…

On the 12th Day of Christmas...

Happy Boxing Day!! It’s stinking hot, I’m slightly hung over and definitely still full from yesterday’s celebrations. I thought about braving the sales for about 2 seconds but then decided against it, it’s all too hard. I have a few things to do today and I need to look reasonably respectable, so this is my best attempt at classy but comfy.

I’ve been wearing these culottes so much, they are the best thing I’ve bought in ages and very versatile, plus I could totally do the splits in them  if I wanted to!

This is my 12^th outfit of Christmas by the way! I hope you have enjoyed my festive dressing over the past month. Now get off your computer/laptop/tablet/phone and go rifle through your Christmas gifts and eat some left overs!

It's the Happiest Day of the Year!!

Merry Christmas fantastic readers! I hope you are having a wonderful day where ever you are. I’m spending Christmas with my lovely family; eating, drinking, jumping in the pool, opening presents, playing (and winning!) scrabble, drinking some more and eating even more… it’s going to be perfect!

Traditions

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod SANTA IS COMING! In years past my Christmas eve tradition has been to spend the day with my friends at the pub and the night with my family at church, then sleep over in my childhood bedroom and wake up (slightly hung over) with excitement at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning. As much as I love waking up at my parents’ house, digging through my stocking with glee and sneaking peaks at the Christmas tree before mum and dad get up it’s time for a bit of a change.

This year the boyfriend and I are going to make our own Christmas Eve traditions and I couldn’t be more excited. Today we're cooking waffles and bacon and drinking champagne for breakfast, maybe we'll go for a swim at the beach (it’s bloody hot!) or find some where pretty to drink coffee, I'm just so excited to spend the day with my number one. After almost 6 years together it’s about time Luke and I made some of our own holiday traditions!

Church with the family tonight is non-negotiable though, so this is what I’ll be wearing in order to blend in with all the angels in the nativity play.
